Application Requirements
General Application
To be considered for admission to the NIU College of Law, all applicants must submit the following:
- NIU College of Law Application
(Please Note: A separate, additional application is required for the part-time option).
- A minimum of two (2) letters of recommendation to the Law School Admission Council's (LSAC) Letter of Recommendation Service. All you need to do is identify your recommenders, print out your prefilled Letter of Recommendation forms, and give the forms to the appropriate recommenders.
- A nonrefundable application fee of $50.
- A personal goal statement.
- An official transcript verifying your baccalaureate degree.

- Early application is encouraged. However, we accept applications after the suggested deadline, and the June LSAT may be used for an admission decision in the same year.
- Financial Aid requests will be processed after the March 1 priority deadline.
Part-Time Application
To be considered for part-time enrollment, you must also submit the Part-Time Option Form with the application.
Re-Applicants
If you applied previously within the past 3 years and would like to re-apply for admittance as a first-year law student, print, complete, and submit the Application for Reconsideration. Please indicate if you will be taking the LSAT again or if you are submitting any other documentation such as new letters of recommendation or a new personal goal statement. If it has been more than 3 years since your original application was submitted, a new application and support documentation must be submitted.
