The Center for Governmental Studies is a public service, applied research, and public policy development unit that works directly with community leaders in governmental and non-governmental organizations to deliver a variety of services.
This Department of Anthropology program conducts cultural resource assessments for private and governmental planning agencies so that they can readily comply with state and federal regulations regarding the treatment of archaeological remains.
The Division of Public Administration conducts research to determine what makes innovations in local government work; analyzes public policy issues; and studies ways to improve production and delivery of public services. Faculty also collaborate with the NIU Center for Governmental Studies and Regional Development Institute.
Division of Public Administration faculty participate in the Civic Leadership Academy offered by the NIU Center for Governmental Studies. The faculty also offer their expertise for the continuous improvement of the services of local governments and non-profit organizations.
