NIU believes that education is everybody's business. We proudly lead the state's march towards P-20, an initiative promoting a seamless educational journey from pre-school all the way through graduate school.
Parents and educators find NIU a willing and active partner in making Illinois schools the best possible places for children and adults to learn. Teachers use NIU as a resource for their work in the state's classrooms and their own career progress.

The Regional Development Institute facilitates grant proposal development and provides evaluation services for projects that often involve faculty from NIU's colleges, and educators from school districts across northern Illinois.
