  • Women's Basketball Coach Carol Owens was named to the Board of Directors of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association
  • Northern Illinois guard Darion "Jake" Anderson was named the 2008 Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year, becoming the first Huskie to win that award since Kenny Battle earned that honor in 1985. He was also the first NIU freshman to lead the squad in scoring (12.2 ppg.) since T.J. Lux (15.2 ppg.) in 1995-96.

The 60,000-square-foot facility includes a strength and conditioning center, academic performance center with fully equipped technology lab, football locker room, and sports medicine areas.
